Investors, lenders and funders will be face to face with businesses next month for a free full day event aimed at supporting Shropshire entrepreneurs to thrive.
The Summer Funding Summit brings together the full range of finance expertise available to businesses wherever they are on their journey, from start-ups looking for seed funding to scale-ups wanting angel investor support.
The event is co-organised by Shropshire Growth Hub and Invest Telford in partnership with the British Business Bank and Shropshire Chamber of Commerce. It is free to attend with places available to book in advance.
Ruth Westwood, of the Shropshire Growth Hub, said: “There is still a significant range of active finance available to Shropshire businesses, from start-up loans through to growth investment and equity finance.
“The challenge many businesses face is knowing where to look and how to put together the strongest possible application. An event like this makes that much easier by bringing the right people into the same room.”
The Summit programme will include expert-led sessions on funding routes and investment readiness, short presentations from funders and lenders, and networking time with advisers and support organisations.
A fireside chat with entrepreneur Mo Chaudry will also feature on the day. Mo will share his business journey, including the experiences and turning points that shaped his career, and will discuss MOmentum Funding, his new initiative to help ambitious founders access growth finance.
Tracy Sherratt, of the British Business Bank, said that while some locally administered grant programmes have closed in recent years, active and accessible finance routes remain available to businesses across the county.
“These include loans and equity investment through the Midlands Engine Investment Fund II (MEIF II), British Business Bank products including Start Up Loans and the Growth Guarantee Scheme, innovation and R&D grants, and angel and equity investment routes.”

The Summer Funding Summit takes place from 9.30am to 3pm on Thursday 2 July.
