Digital summit to showcase how AI can help businesses be more human

Published: September 2nd, 2026

A high-profile digital summit will show businesses across the Marches how being more human can help them win and retain more business in the AI age.

The Shropshire Digital Summit – which is open to all businesses from Herefordshire, Shropshire and Telford & Wrekin – brings together a range of top speakers at Shrewsbury Town’s stadium on September 29.

The free Shropshire Growth Hub event – which runs from 9am-4.30pm – aims to show firms how to win and retain customers with a human-led digital strategy and improve efficiency with AI support.

Attendees will hear from an impressive line‑up of speakers, including keynote expert Daniel Rowles, CEO of Target Internet, who will explore digital psychology, conversion rate optimisation and the changing customer journey.

His sessions will help businesses understand how people behave online, what influences their decisions and how AI‑powered search and social media are reshaping customer expectations.

The programme also features Barbara Anthony‑Okafor from Intuit Mailchimp, who will unpack multi‑channel customer journeys across email, SMS and WhatsApp, and Lewis Hardie from Start Tech, who will guide businesses through the cyber security foundations needed for safe and effective AI adoption.

Software expert Paul McGillivray of Remote and Autm, will lead a session looking at why organisational intelligence is becoming a greater competitive advantage than simply adopting more AI tools before a second session from Daniel Rowles examining how AI-powered search, social media and zero-click experiences are transforming customer behaviour.

Breakout sessions will offer hands‑on learning, including practical website improvement techniques with InSynch CEO Eddy Webb, a prompt‑engineering workshop with Daniel Rowles and a session on human‑led content creation with Louise Christie of Marketing 101, designed to help businesses use AI without losing authenticity.

A buffet lunch will be provided and there will be plenty of chance for networking at the event.

A spokesperson for the Shropshire Growth Hub said: “This event is for businesses looking to enhance their digital presence and leverage the latest technology and marketing strategies to drive growth.

“In 2026 the businesses that win aren’t the ones using the most AI tools, it’s the ones using AI to give their people more time to be human.  The Shropshire Digital Summit will help you to master the tools that scale your growth and the tactics that build your trust.”
