Vital help is available for small and medium sized enterprises to help them stay safe from online hackers.
The National Cyber Security Centre has produced a free Cyber Action toolkit to help businesses stay safe from cyber criminals.
The toolkit – which is available here – contains a range of simple steps which help sole traders and small businesses stay protected from online threats.
It is part of a portfolio of support offered by the NCSC including a small business guide to cyber security, tips on protecting and securing your devices, how to mitigate malware and ransomware attacks and help to make sure you use online services safely.
It also offers advice and support to lessen the security risks associated with hybrid working and tailored guidance for specific sectors.
Businesses can also sign up to a small organisations newsletter which covers the latest tips and advice every month.
A spokesman said: “One in two businesses reported a cyber attack in the last 12 months.
“Cyber attacks can significantly impact a business, whatever the size or sector. Organisations should plan for cyber incidents as part of general risk planning.
“Putting in place a cyber incident response plan gives you a better change of mitigating the impact, helping to restore systems quickly and minimise business downtime.
“Planning for an incident doesn’t have to be daunting. These resources will help your organisation understand the risk and build an effective response plan.”
